Here is s look at the "mantel" over the TV. (Hey, you work with what you've got!)
I was feeling particularly in-the-season, so I took some pictures of the mantel with a filter to give things a spooky look. Once you scroll down, there are some regular pictures so you can see it clearly, too.
See more after the jump.
And here are the "real" shots:
I made the urns by gluing a candlestick to a glass vase from Dollar Tree. I got the idea from the Dollar Store Crafts blog. I made the "BOO" letters from a design from, who else, the Graphics Fairy. Some pumpkins, gourds, a few spiders and rubber snakes, and voila!
*I am linking my mantel to a linky party at The Stories of A2Z. So if you want to see more great mantels, head there!
And this is the cut-out between my living room and dining room. I hung a glow-in-the-dark lettered banner and a stuffed fabric pumpkin on the sill. I'll post pictures tomorrow of the stuff you can sort of see in the dining room. :)
These are just some of the other places I have decorated around my living room that I took picture of with my "spooky" technique.
The pumpkin on top of the bookshelf is my trick-or-treating pumpkin from my childhood. I put orange twinkle lights in it so I can use it, even though I'm grown up now.
I thought the hourglass looked perfectly witchy!
I made the pumpkin stand by gluing a plate and candlestick together. Total cost: $2. Whee! I taped the sparkly skull to another candlestick for a bit of presence and symmetry.
Let me know what you think! I really do appreciate all your comments!
I'm linking to these parties:
Love your spooky filter! Is that on your iPhone by any chance? Your Happy Halloween banner is so cute and how great that it glows in the dark? My boys would LOVE that! Thanks so much for linking up.
